There are not many of you who are surfers and skiers at the same time, this is a rare breed of human being. For obvious reasons, finding a good surf spot that’s nearby a good mountain ski run is quite a difficult thing to figure out yourself.
Don’t worry, I’ve done all the research for you.
Below is a list of great surf spots that are relatively close to a snowy mountain that’s great for skiing or snowboarding too.
Surfing In Renaca Beach
Chile has one of those places in the world that you can go surfing and skiing in the same day.
Renaca beach is located approximately 40 km from Santiago city in Chile. The surf breaks on a sand bank, with some nice peaks in the middle of the beach. Goofy or natural footers can both enjoy this surf break because of the left and right peaks.
After surfing at Renaca beach, you can travel to a nearby mountain called Nevado and go skiing.

Skiing On Valle Nevado Mountain
Valle Nevado mountain gets around 7 metres of snow every year and is only approximately 60kms from Renaca surf beach. Nevado is only around 10kms from Santiago city in Chile, so you could stay in the city, then travel to the ski slopes everyday if you choose to do so.

Surfing On Malibu Beach Los Angeles
If you are one of those adventurous types who like to surf and ski/snowboard at the same time, this is the beach for you. Because it’s close to Snow Summit ski Resort, where you can go skiing in the same day as going surfing at malibu.
Malibu is one of the most famous surf spots in the world. Long surfboards are named after this surf break, that’s literally how iconic this spot is. After going for a surf here in Malibu, you can travel east approximately 90kms to Snow Summit ski Resort.

Skiing – Snow Summit Resort Los Angeles
Snow Summit Resort is the largest ski resort in the Los Angeles area, this resort provides a range of other exciting activities like Mountain biking and hiking during summer. Mountain high resort is quite a nice spot to go skiing too.
After doing some research on the two different spots, It seems to me that the snow summit resort is the best for skiing.
Skiing Mount Hut New Zealand
Mount hut Canterbury is known as a good skiing and snowboarding resort, this resort has a little of everything for all types of snow goers. There is high-end accommodation like most reports around the world.
However, mount hut offers some affordable accommodation for backpackers and travelers on a budget. After hitting mount hut, you could within one day go for a surf at new brighten beach in Christchurch.
Surfing In New Brighton Beach Christchurch
New brighten beach has many sandbank beach breaks that range in quality depending on the wind, the swell, and where the sandbanks are on that particular day.
If you are the adventurous type who wants to go surfing and skiing on the same day and you happen to be in New Zealand, new brighten beach and Mount Hut are the perfect spots for you to do both.
Surfing in Biarritz Beach France
For the opportunity to go surfing and then hit the slopes within the same day, Biarritz is perfect for this. Biarritz is known for having great waves, in 1958 the surf club was first established, since then surfers have been travelling to this beach for it’s famous waves.

Skiing in Saint-Lary-Soulan France
Saint-Lary-Soulan ski resort is about 100kms east of Biarritz surf beach, you’ll have to pass through Pau city if driving. So, after having a surfing session, you can travel to Saint-Lary-Soulan ski resort for a skiing session.
All within one day, if you are adventurous.
Surfing in Otaru Dream Beach Japan
Japanese surfers are very common, for years now I’ve seen a large amount of Japanese surfers everywhere I surf. Surfing must be very popular over in Japan.
The ohama coast in Japan is known for its surf. Otaru dream beach apparently lives up to its name by providing surfers with above average surf conditions all year round.
The only downside to Otaru beach is how cold it is most of the year. Make sure you bring a good wetsuit, a steamer wetsuit is recommended. Only 45 miles south is Mt Niseko, one of the most popular skiing areas in all of Japan
